If you’ve driven past the Ravenswood site in recent days you’ll have noticed the diggers on site. Ravenswood Developments have announced that clearing has started in preparation for earthworks and CityCare have been confirmed as the civil contractor. This marks the start of the $20 million construction project of the Ravenswood commercial area.
The commercial area will cover 13 hectares and New World, McDonalds, and a BP fuel station with Wild Bean Cafe are all confirmed and almost all the light industrial sites are now sold, with only 5 of the 36 lots remaining for sale.
They have also recently confirmed two childcare centres for the development.
With the commercial centre underway, they expect to officially launch a range of commercial leasing opportunities at Ravenswood in the coming months and Detailed design of the retail precinct is now well advanced. This area, adjacent the New World supermarket, allows a range of opportunities for business to establish at Ravenswood, providing 25 tenancies ranging from 50m² to over 300m².
Construction of stage 1 of the residential section is also expected to start later this year, once the target of 100-110 section sales has been reached. They currently have contracts on 80 sections, so there is not far to go.
“This is the point when the new development will begin to take shape and people can begin to appreciate the scope of the commercial area, which will serve the wider North Canterbury community”, said Paul Croft, General Manager of Ravenswood Developments.
