Enable announced this week that Rangiora’s fibre rollout is complete and some 7000 homes and businesses in the area are now able to connect to fibre broadband.

Enable’s Chief Executive Steve Fuller said the service brings many benefits to the community.

“For business owners, it can mean being able to run a digital business close to home, rather than having to have an office in the city, or being able to reach customers around the country or world from a small Canterbury town. For families, the benefits include accessing online entertainment options easily, connecting with family and friends, and learning in new ways”.

About a third of Rangiora had fibre available already as Enable had focused the early stages of its rollout on reaching the business community and schools.  Several hundred businesses, all schools and almost one thousand homes are currently using the service.

Further work will be focused on completing the roll-out of fibre in Kaiapoi which should be complete by the end of this year and Woodend which is due to be complete in early 2018.

Rangiora Bakery Managing Director Ron van Til said that switching to fibre had brought many benefits for his business.  “Everything is instant now” says van Til, “we used to wait for EFTPOS transactions to go through. Now it happens straight away….The efficiencies we’ve achieved – including cost savings – has meant we are now a slicker operation. My advice to any business who has not made the switch is: Do it. It’s at your door and you’re doing yourself a disservice by not having it.”
