The Waimakariri District Council serves a community of nearly 60,000 that is currently experiencing rapid growth. This brings with it abundant challenges across a diverse range of areas. The Council has an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Resource Management Planner to join our Planning Unit based in Rangiora, North Canterbury.

In this position, you will process a wide variety of resource consent applications, including large residential subdivisions, you will deal with complex planning matters involving both rural and urban issues, and respond to public enquiries relating to property and land use. There will be a strong emphasis on making sound recommendations on resource management matters and a collaborative teamwork approach to delivering quality outcomes. As part of the Planning Unit, and working with internal and external stakeholders, our Resource Management Planners have a major role in achieving the best possible outcomes for our community.

Ideally, you will be a community-focused person with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people. You will be confident as a project manager and working on strategic planning issues in order to come up with ‘win-win' solutions. To complement your work history, a relevant tertiary qualification in Planning or Resource Management is required. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, believes in continuous improvement and welcomes new learning and experiences by sharing, contributing and cooperating with others.
