Waimakariri District is one of the fastest-growing Districts in New Zealand and the third-largest, by population, in the South Island. This brings with it abundant challenges across a diverse range of areas. The Council is seeking a Project Engineer within the Project Delivery Unit, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury, to help deliver the capital works programme.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, skilled and experienced engineer to join a progressive and customer-focused Council. This is a permanent full-time position with the responsibility of providing hydraulically modelling, asset management, and project delivery in a long-term sustainable manner. We currently have some exciting projects underway where your skills will be utilised throughout the project cycle.

The Project Engineer is an intermediate to senior level role within the Utilities & Roading Department and a key part of the Project Delivery Unit. You will be responsible for asset management tasks including hydraulic modelling, renewal modelling, feasibility studies, and the development of asset management systems. This is a great opportunity to take ownership and work closely with the public, Council, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results.

This role will suit a qualified engineer, with technical expertise in hydraulic modelling and asset management. Ideally, applicants should have experience in Mike Urban as well as a strong Microsoft Excel skillset. Strong organisation and oral communication skills are essential for this varied and challenging position.
