The Waimakariri District Council serves a community of over 50,000 that is experiencing rapid growth with a high rate of development accompanied by corresponding demands on infrastructure and services.

The Council is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to work within the Water Unit which is based at our Southbrook depot in Rangiora. The Water Unit is an internal service provider providing services to our 3 Waters & Green Space Teams, and the wider Council.

Typical tasks include undertaking the coordination and monitoring of work programmes, delivering best practice quality control and assurance and also ensuring Health & Safety policy is maintained and Staff are fully trained, providing advice and oversight to all aspects of the Water unit contracts, ensuring budgetary controls, assisting Water Unit Supervisors and coordinating works with Asset Managers.

To secure this position you will need to have:

  • An in-depth understanding of civil engineering principles and able to demonstrate these have been applied within a number contract management disciplines;
  • A proven ability to manage projects with multiple inputs from, Council Asset Managers, and external contractors;
  • Experience in 3 waters experience service delivery;
  • An understanding of the Quality controls, documentation, with a focus on staff training and development in a contracting environment;
  • An understanding of the Health and Safety Act;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to problem solve;
  • A solutions focused attitude;
  • Managing contracts within budgetary constraints.
