Network Manager

MainPower New Zealand Limited owns and operates the electricity distribution network across the North Canterbury and Kaikoura regions. Our network delivers electricity to a population of over 65,000 via 5,017 kilometres of overhead lines and underground cables, across a geographical area of 11,180 square kilometres. As an essential service provider, we invest in the electricity network to ensure a safe, secure and reliable power supply is provided to the region.

Reporting to the Assets and Capital Works Manager, the Network Manager takes end-to-end accountability for ensuring the safe, secure and sustainable operation and maintenance of the MainPower distribution network. This includes interpreting service levels provided from our ‘Voice of the Customer’ research programme, through to operation and maintenance deliverables, while ensuring network performance targets are achieved. In doing this, you will:

  • lead network operation, control and maintenance activities
  • continually review network performance, ensuring the performance of the network meets with our customer expectations
  • drive HSEQ excellence through providing a controlled working environment for all works carried out on the network, whilst ensuring that staff and contractors attain the necessary competency to complete the task at hand
  • plan and lead maintenance tasks, fault and emergency response plans; analyse key data to measure performance against requirements, and delivery within required timescales and budgets
  • identify fresh approaches and show a willingness to question traditional assumptions to drive operational improvements and demonstrate benefits.

You will ideally be an experienced and qualified electrical engineer and will have utilised your technical expertise in network or infrastructure planning and management. You will be self-motivated, and enjoy dealing with and leading people. You will work best when combining collaboration and leadership to drive team and business-wide results. You must have the ability to contribute to and develop forward thinking strategic asset plans, that not only deliver customer service targets, but also ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.

We’re committed to attracting the very best professionals and can offer the ideal candidate attractive employment benefits.
