Maintenance Manager

Rangiora-based MainPower New Zealand Limited owns and operates the electricity distribution network across the North Canterbury and Kaikoura regions. Our network delivers electricity to a population of over 65,000 via 5,017 kilometres of overhead lines and underground cables, across a geographical area of 11,180 square kilometres. As an essential service provider, we invest in the electricity network to ensure a safe, secure and reliable power supply is provided to the region.

At MainPower, we are committed to delivering real value to our customers and community, and have a dedicated Assets and Capital Works team with a strong focus on life cycle asset management. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our Assets team.

Reporting to the Assets Manager, the role will be responsible for the successful delivery of our maintenance programmes, to ensure that our regulated and non-regulated assets are safe, reliable and compliant at all times. You will ensure that customer expectations are incorporated into our maintenance frameworks, develop and implement maintenance plans, identify risks and consequence and performance improvement. 

This role will suit an individual who likes structure and schedules, has great attention to detail, is passionate about safety and has a good understanding of asset management principles. You will also need to be skilled in incident investigation, problem solving and decision making techniques.

To achieve this we are looking for someone who will ideally have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification
  • an absolute commitment to workplace and public safety
  • a strong understanding and knowledge of the electricity industry, with proven experience in infrastructure maintenance practices
  • experience in the application of Asset Management methodologies
  • experience in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and IT programmes
  • a professional and results oriented approach with good business and customer focus
  • strong project management skills and experience
  • the ability to work constructively in a team, demonstrating a willingness to share information
  • excellent communication and problem solving skills.
