The Waimakariri District Council operates three Aquatic Facilities in the North Canterbury region including Dudley Park Aquatic Centre in Rangiora, Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre and Oxford Community Aquatic Centre.

From these facilities, we provide a high-level customer experience to a wide range of users ensuring that each facility is being utilized to its full potential.

We do this by offering high quality facilities and programming, including our WaiSwim Learn to Swim programme, delivering aquatic instruction to the individuals and students within our district.

To assist with this, the Council is currently seeking applications for Learn to Swim Instructors at both our Kaiapoi and Dudley Park Aquatic Centres. You will be working with a team to deliver a dynamic Learn to Swim programme as part of our WaiSwim lessons programme.

Our after school programme is delivered between 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 am to 12.30 pm Saturday and Sunday following the 40-week primary school term. Permanent part time shifts are available throughout the week at both sites. Our schools programme operates between 9:30 am to 2.30 pm daily with additional casual hours available if suitable.

As a Learn to Swim instructor, you will be a passionate team player seeking a role, which shapes the skills and abilities of students within our community. You will be great at communicating, breaking down ideas and build rapport with your students.

Industry experience and the ability to work with a diverse customer base would be of benefit. Previous experience teaching Learn to Swim is not essential, but would be an advantage and the successful applicant will hold or be capable of achieving the Swim Teacher Award.
