Head Chef - full-time

Situated within the Award winning Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa complex the Tea Kiosk Cafe and Grill is a busy, vibrant, casual cafe offering a range of food styles all within a modern kitchen environment.

Our dining options are varied and you must have experience in specialising in homemade pizzas, cabinet foods and baking and extensive experience in managing short order meal preparation.

Working alongside our fantastic team of Chefs your role is to lead, inspire and ensure consistently high standards of food service.

Key skills you must have are:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • You must be able to work under pressure in a high volume environment
  • A passion for food and flair in meal presentation
  • Experience in all aspects of cookery
  • You will be responsible for ordering and stock control
  • Experience administering Food Control Plan and understanding of Health & Safety requirements within the kitchen
  • Experience in menu planning and implementation as well as food costing experience
  • Organisational and time management skills

This is a rewarding but also challenging role. Your hours will predominantly be 40 hours per week on a set roster but you must have the flexibility during our school holiday periods to put in extra effort and lead the team through these busy times.  You must also be a team player who helps with all tasks within the kitchen, we’re a small team and everyone pitches in to get the job done, no matter how big or small the tasks is. 

We offer a well structured and supportive work environment with a commitment to staff development and training.  Our business is well established and employment is secure and long term.  Hours do vary depending on the time of year but there are no early mornings and very few late nights.  Accommodation is available within shared staff housing if required.
