Design Team Leader

We are looking for a Design Team Leader to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and clearly communicated solutions for both customer connections and the development of our distribution network.

You will lead our team of in-house Designers to produce designs for new build and upgrade projects for both LV and MV networks. You will work closely with our Engineers to deliver a complete network solution and will also liaise with the Service Delivery and the Planning teams to ensure designs transition seamlessly from concept through to delivery.

Your responsibilities will also include coaching and mentoring our dedicated Design team, monitoring and managing design quality and service levels, and developing and maintaining technical standards and processes.

You will have a solid background in electrical design and drafting and be able to demonstrate:

  • A tertiary electrical qualification
  • 3+ years power systems design experience in distribution or transmission networks
  • A track record leading and managing technical in-house teams and specialist consultants
  • Sound technical knowledge of distribution network components, constructions, and operational practices
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory and industry standards, guides, and best practice
  • A practical, customer-focussed approach to problem solving
  • Proficient drafting with AutoCAD or equivalent
  • Commercial acumen and administrative savvy
  • Superb planning skills to ensure priorities and tasks are completed on time
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Rigorous management of documentation and workflow
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with a flair for communicating technical information to non-technical people
