Come with us as we gear up to bring you the 2021 North Canterbury Business Awards!

If you survived the rigours of 2020 and are looking at good times coming, we want to hear your story.

Open to all North Canterbury businesses, the awards are a great opportunity to get the recognition you deserve for your well-run business.

This event, held once every two years (with an additional year's gap due to Covid-19), is highly anticipated, good fun and highly beneficial to your business.

Entries will open on April 29th, so keep your eye on this page, our Facebook page and our newsletters for updates closer to the time.

In the meantime, if you would like to nominate a business for the 2021 awards, click here. You can nominate your own business, or someone else's business. We will approach businesses that are nominated and encourage them to enter the awards.

Or hear what previous winners had to say about their wins:

Capture1“We entered the Business Awards because we were anonymously nominated and after we considered the prospect, we decided to give it a go,” explains Deb. “We were very encouraged by winning the award.  Hospitality is a tough business and we have been in it for many years.  It was great for us and our team to be recognised for all the hard work and genuine desire to do an outstanding job for our customers. It was really uplifting to feel that we are making an impact.”

- Deb Riach of Coffee Worx, 2018 Artisan Spa Tourism and Hospitality Award Winner

Capture105“Receiving any awards in our industry is incredibly positive given the young age of our business and how competitive the industry is. But the North Canterbury Business Awards was our first chance to be judged against other businesses – not just real estate businesses – so it meant a lot. The team loved it, and it gave them the confidence that they are involved with a good business, whilst to Claire and I it was recognition that we are on the right track.”

- Stuart Morris, of Ray White Morris and Co Real Estate, 2018 Hellers Emerging Business Award Winner

Capture106“Often the reality is you’re so busy with developing your business and products that there isn’t much time to take a breath and complete an awards entry. But the questions asked on the awards application actually helped us to focus our thinking and to consolidate product development to generate the best result for our company and staff.”

- Peter Caughey of Sprintec, 2018 Spark Business Canterbury Innovation Award Winner

“Winning that award was amazing. It was a great way to get our name out there, and we got a lot of new customers from it. The application process is a great time to actually sit down and reflect on your business and really see how far you have come. As a business owner I think we get caught up in the day to day things and forget how far we have come and grown.

- Kate Florance of Beauty and You, 2016 Hellers Emerging Business Award winner

Hanmer5"We thought we had no chance so it was so exciting to win. We’re still reeling from it. The team are ecstatic and it’s a reflection on all of our board and our staff, it’s been a real team effort”.

Elizabeth Meaclem of Hanmer Springs Forest Camp Trust, 2016 Artisan Spa Tourism and Hospitality Award winner

Oasis2"Entering the awards gives you the opportunity to evaluate your business; where you are, where you want to be and helps you identify areas where you can improve. It gives you a chance to benchmark yourself against others. I would encourage all owners to enter the awards just for that. Winning an award enhances your business credibility and was a big pat on the back for the whole team"

- Stephanie Evans of Oasis Beauty, 2016 Westpac Manufacturing Award winner and 2016 North Canterbury News People's Choice Award Winner

Winner Innovation Technology The Learning Staircase2“We are currently in negotiation with international distributors and being able to describe ourselves as an ‘award-winning company’ is a real plus.  It adds significantly to our credibility.  It will also stand us in good stead when attracting new staff, which we will need to do very shortly."

– Ros Lugg of The Learning Staircase – 2014 Mainpower Supreme Award and 2Degrees Innovation Technology Award Winner
