Anyone passing through the Silverstream retail development recently will have noticed the number of ‘leased’ signs is growing and the area is coming to life. Le Plaisir, the first of the retail tenants opened in mid-March this year and have been enjoying a steady stream of clients to their destination hair and beauty salon. Denise Enright and Karen Joyce, the two sisters that run the salon are delighted with their new premises and looking forward to welcoming other new businesses.
Silverstream developers, Fred Rahme and John Hayson say that Le Plaisir won’t have to wait too long. Fit-outs will soon start for a family restaurant/café/deli; a convenience store and an Indian restaurant. Meanwhile the nearby preschool building in Silverstream is due to be completed by the end of June and will have places for 75 children.
The whole of the office space upstairs in the retail development is fully leased. There is a bus service connecting Silverstream to Hornby (via the Airport) and a further bus service due to commence late April offering transport options to Kaiapoi and the city.
“It’s wonderful to see the buses through here” says Rahme, “We have some 400 homes here at the moment, there are currently another 80 under construction and we will have 1100 people living here by the end of the year. We’re getting more people and we’re becoming more visible on the radar”.
With over 150 dedicated car parks; increasing visibility and passing traffic and high quality, high profile retail spaces – it’s perhaps not surprising that new tenants are keen to move in.
Longer term plans for Silverstream include a five-star retirement village and a population of over four thousand people.
