A new online cookery school have set up their head office in Kaiapoi.  The International Culinary School have leased premises in Williams Street and have been moving in over the weekend.  They offer educational courses entirely online and their new Kaiapoi offices will act as both their administration centre and film studio kitchen, where they will film classes.

Courses are aimed at those already working as chefs who want an official qualification as well as more advanced options for those wishing to upskill.  Students can earn an internationally recognised qualification through City & Guilds, enhancing their career opportunities and giving them the option to travel with their skills. However, as the courses are flexible and online, they also mean that students can continue to work and study around their schedule.

The International Culinary Studio was launched in December of last year by Director Cheryl Nesbitt and Group Executive Chef Andy Cordier, both of whom have years of experience in the business of cooking and culinary education.

"Looking for premises in Christchurch has been impossible since the earthquakes" says Nesbitt.  So they decided to expand their search to Kaiapoi, where they came across premises perfectly suited to their needs.  They also liked the main street location and the fact that it's only a short drive from central Christchurch and Marshlands as well as an easy drive for staff from Lincoln and Prebbleton says Nesbitt.

Since launch just a few months ago, they have already had hundreds of enquiries about their courses and have several students enrolled from Christchurch, the Australasia region and as far afield as India.  They currently have six full-time staff including a salesperson and an administrator and are aiming to enrol 1000 students within their first 5 years.
