The government announced yesterday that the earthquake subsidy will be extended until the 30th April.

This offers a further period of support for eligible Hurunui businesses that are already receiving the employment subsidy.  The extension of the employment subsidy will be in two stages.  The first four weeks will see a subsidy of $375 per full time employee and $225 per part time employee.  The following four weeks will reduce that to $250 per full time employee and $150 per part time employee.

There will also be subsidies available for businesses that require mentoring or coaching to help them address issues in their business post-quake along with specialised advice.

In addition, the government approved a new one-million dollar business grant programme for Kaikōura, Hurunui and Marlborough which will take effect after the 30th April.  This will be focused on helping businesses to get back on their feet.
