Enterprise North Canterbury (ENC) Board Chairman Nick Harris is retiring from the Board after a ten-year stint.

Nick, who joined the ENC Board in 2009 became Chairman in 2015. He completed his three three-year terms with ENC in 2018 but was asked by the Board to continue as Chair for a further year.

ENC CEO Heather Warwick says ENC is a better organisation because of Nick’s contribution.

“He has put so much valued voluntary time and passion into the success of ENC,” she says. “He is a true entrepreneur and ENC has benefitted from his business acumen and entrepreneurial thinking and vision. We all really value the contribution Nick has brought to his role, both as a Board member and as Board Chairman.”

Nick has strong ties to the North Canterbury region, having grown up in Cheviot. He worked for Hellers for 25 years, becoming Managing Director during that time. He is now Managing Director of Harris Meats; an abattoir, farm and meat-processing business based in Domett, with a retail shop in Cheviot.

Enterprise North Canterbury operates as a Trust established by the Waimakariri and Hurunui District Councils. The aim of the Trust is to ‘inspire, attract and retain individuals, businesses and social enterprises to invest in our region’. The Trust comprises ten staff and a number of voluntary trustees, who make up the ENC Board.
