Enterprise North Canterbury (ENC) is reminding local businesses that Covid-19 funding is still available for those that need it.
Despite a large uptake of funding support in the early throes of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are still some Government-allocated funds available for small to medium businesses in Waimakariri, Hurunui and Kaikoura.
The Regional Business Partner (RBP) Covid-19 Advisory Fund is aimed at supporting small to medium North Canterbury businesses experiencing negative impacts due to Covid-19. The fund can be used to access professional advice and support in the areas of HR, health and wellness, business continuity planning or finance and cashflow management.
Owner of Kaiapoi brewpub The Port & Eagle, Dave Gaughan, successfully applied for the RBP Covid-19 Advisory Fund in April and says it has helped his business enormously.
“The funding was used to access professional advice to ensure our business was structured properly, with all the correct systems in place to make sure the business was healthy as we came out of the lockdown. The funding has helped us enormously in terms of keeping the business going, and in the right direction,” he said.
“I would certainly encourage other businesses to apply for the funding if they need it.”
Small to medium tourism businesses in Kaikoura and Hurunui can also apply for help through the Tourism Transition Fund. This fund, released by the Government in July through the RBP Network, aims to cover 100% of the cost of expert business advice in areas such as developing a digital enablement strategy, HR, finance and cash flow, business strategy, marketing, health and wellbeing and how to hibernate a business. Eligible tourism businesses can access up to $5,000 per business.
ENC Business Growth Advisor Guy Graham says businesses should not hold back in asking for funding if they are struggling.
“It’s been a really tough year for many local businesses and, for some, the effects may only just be becoming apparent. If businesses are experiencing negative impacts due to Covid-19, this money is there to help. We really encourage businesses to take this opportunity to access funding while it’s still available.”
