A new development in central Kaiapoi is hoping to attract both new and existing businesses to its riverside location.

The two-storey office building is currently under construction and will be completed by April 2020.  Its riverside position, on the corner of Williams and Charles Street places it in one of Kaiapoi’s busiest spots, opposite ENC House, the soon-to-open Riverview Retail Complex and the Port & Eagle Brewpub which opened in March.

Developer Andrew Wenborn of Ashmore Holdings, which has a number of other projects in the area, said he saw the development as another great opportunity in the Waimakariri District.

“I choose to focus on the Waimakariri as my place to do business. This is a great spot, with an excellent profile alongside the river. And with Jedd’s [Riverview Retail] development across the road, it all helps to lift the area.”

He said that the new development is ideal for professional services seeking office space, while a hospitality venture and boutique retailers could be perfect for the ground floor.

Corcoran French Lawyers have already secured much of the first floor and will move from their existing Kaiapoi location, while One Agency Waimakariri Real Estate is opening its first branch office on the ground floor.

Barry Rolton and Nicole Weber of One Agency Waimakariri said the location of the office and the future plans for Kaiapoi were what attracted them to the space.

“The District Plan has some exciting prospects for the regeneration of the Kaiapoi centre,” explains Barry. “There's a real buzz around the town about how it might look over the next few years and we're keen to be a part of this. With nearby cafes, restaurants, a supermarket and being situated on a busy roundabout on Kaiapoi's main street, we love the exposure for our company in this location.”
