The winners of the 2018 North Canterbury Business Awards were announced at a sold-out gala evening in Ohoka on Friday night, August 31.
The MainPower Supreme Award went to Totalspan North Canterbury; a local franchise of the Totalspan steel buildings enterprise. Franchise owners Jamie and Ellen Petersen are no strangers to awards, having taken home four accolades at the 2017 Totalspan National Conference, including Franchise of the Year.
Totalspan North Canterbury also won the ENC Manufacturing & Trades Award at the Gala on Friday.
Business Awards organiser and ENC Business Support Manager Miles Dalton said the Gala was a great night for everyone involved, and the support of this year’s awards has been incredible.
“We had such a great turnout from the local business community, and a great night was had by all,” he said.
“This year’s awards have been a huge success, with a record number of entries, as well as a record number of votes in the popular People’s Choice Award. We want to congratulate all of this year’s winners and finalists, who are all very deserving.
“The calibre of businesses in the North Canterbury region is incredibly high, making our judges’ job very difficult!”
The coveted People’s Choice Award, which is decided solely by votes from the public, went to Stirling Sports Rangiora, which also took home the Kingsford Kitchen Excellence in Retail Award.
This year’s Business Awards featured two new categories: the ECan Environmental Step Change Award, which was awarded to Eco Educate Ltd; and the PAK’nSAVE Community Enterprise Award, which went to Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust.
Other winners on the night were Medbury Farm Limited, which took home the Mauri ANZ Stockfeed Agribusiness Award; Ray White Morris & Co Real Estate, which took home the Hellers Emerging Business Award; Sprintec, which won the Spark Business Canterbury Innovation Award; Sarah Clements Photography, for the BDO Professional Services Award; and Coffee Worx, which won the Artisan Spa Tourism & Hospitality Award.
