You may have noticed the work going on at the old Bell’s Auction house building on Charles Street in Kaiapoi. Hazeldine builders have been hard at work on the building over the last few weeks.

According to owner Richard McCrone the building, which served as their second-hand business for many years prior to the quakes, is getting a revamp. It will be strengthened to above earthquake standards. A new toilet and kitchen facilities will be added inside and, of course, as we can already see there’s a new, modern frontage.

Once works are complete McCrone says the building will be leased.

“We’re looking forward to seeing it up and running again as part of the Kaiapoi business sector” he commented.

Meanwhile Bell’s Auctions continue to run their popular weekly auctions from their 38 Charles Street premises.
