One of the ideas which came out of the consultation process for the North Canterbury Labour Market Strategy 2008 was to look at the seasonal work force in North Canterbury.  New Zealand generally is known for its seasonal work opportunities and North Canterbury is no different. 

Initially, the discussions have been around the seasonal work available in the Hurunui district.  ENC has begun discussions with the Amuri Dairy Employers Group, The Waipara Valley Wine Growers and the Hanmer Springs Business Association to gain a clearer understanding of some of the issues faced by businesses when attracting and retaining staff.
