Introduction
This section is dedicated to people who work in North Canterbury or want to work in North Canterbury. ENC has been working alongside various partners including local businesses, economic development agencies, central and local Government, training providers, ITO's, community agencies and schools for many years now to understand the workforce needs of the region. Some key indicators for North Canterbury are available.
In February 2008, ENC published their North Canterbury Labour Market Strategy.This document was developed in conjunction with the stakeholders and business representitives and outlines three key labour market projects which ENC agreed to develop:
JobSearch North Canterbury
It was highlighted on numerous occasions that local people were finding it difficult to find a source of local job vacancies. ENC agreed to develop a tool to assist. This is a FREE service available to anyone looking for work in North Canterbury or any companies who have a vacancy in their North Canterbury business.
Workplace Collaboration
It was identified that there were significant barriers to businesses in North Canterbury training and upskilling their staff. ENC is actively working with clusters of businesses to assist them with their training needs and where possible identify areas where these businesses can collaborate with other clusters.
