Most people live in North Canterbury to enjoy the semi rural lifestyle, however many people believe that even if they live here, they must travel to Christchurch to work.  Approximately 48% of the working population of Waimakariri commute into Christchurch each day to work and most of them would prefer to work closer to home.

ENC is proud to be able to provide a new JobSearch feature on this website.  During the consultation for the Labour Market Strategy, the need for a tool to be developed to link local people with local jobs was defined as a clear priority and ENC has been working with local businesses and agencies to develop this tool.  Since it's launch in August 2009, the site has proven successful with both local businesses and local people.
