Community Spirit

Community spirit is still alive in North Canterbury, there are plenty of ways in which the community gets together all around the district.  The schools all hold their own fete days which encourage the parents, family and friends of the students to join in the fun.

There are many community centres around the region which house a variety of groups both hobby and recreational.  Details of which can be found in the Waimakariri District Directories.

For parents with pre-school children, there are the Plunket Groups dotted around the region, these groups provide advice and support to parents of pre-school children.  Details of your nearest group can be found here.

There is a Newcomers Network available to those who move into the Waimakariri region from near and far, the group holds regular coffee mornings generally in the Rangiora area.  Find their contact details here

Christchurch City Libraries hold a full database of community support organisations in the Canterbury district, for more information on this click here.
