The following documents have been considered during the process and are available for download here.

  • Waimakariri 2010 Annual Economic Profile - looking in depth at the Waimakariri economy for 2010 including GDP and industry growth, performance of key sectors, employment, population and business growth. 
  • Hurunui 2010 Annual Economic Profile - looking in depth at the Hurunui economy for 2010 including GDP and industry growth, performance of key sectors, employment, population and business growth. 
  • Waimakariri & Hurunui 2010 Annual Economic Profile - looking in depth at the North Canterbury economy (Waimakariri & Hurunui combined) for 2010 including GDP and industry growth, performance of key sectors, employment, population and business growth. 
  • Infometrics Canterbury Earthquake Special- estimating the impact of the February earthquake on economic activity in Waimakariri, Christchurch City and Selwyn, re-evaluating predictions for the economy and highlighting the effects that the disaster and its aftermath will have on various economic indicators over the next two years.
  • Executive Summaries of 2010 Annual Economic Profiles and Earthquake Special- a shorter document that includes just the Executive Summaries of the three Annual Economic Profiles, as well as the Infometrics Canterbury Earthquake Special for a quicker read
  • Rangiora Town Centre Pre and Post Earthquake(s) Spending Analysis -
    PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A VERY LARGE FILE 7MB AND MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD
    looking at the recent change in spending behaviour at Rangiora town centre merchants following the September 2010 and February 2011 earthquakes based on BNZ's credit and debit card holders.
  • Waimakariri District Business Survey Series - discussing the Waimakariri District 2010 Business Survey series, which saw questionnaires directed to all businesses that have a physical address in the Waimakariri District by location with links to the full analysis reports (for Rangiora town centre, Kaiapoi town centre, Rangiora / Southbrook and Woodend). Also included here a short follow up Rangiora town centre post quake(s) business survey.
  • BERL Regional Performance Indicators 2010 - ranking New Zealand's 72 Territorial Local Authorities (TLA) by nine key performance indicators for the year ending March 2010, looking at best performing district, population growth performance, GDP growth performance, employment growth performance, business units growth, openness index, biggest climbers and fallers. According to this report, the Waimakariri District ranks fourth for overall performance in 2010 and the Hurunui District 10th.
  • Local Economic Development: Context and Background - short background report looking at defining what local economic development is, Councils' roles in economic development, as well as an initial list of potential short, medium and long term economic development opportunities in North Canterbury to kick off thinking for the event. 
  • Other business surveys - details of the regular economic and employment confidence surveys undertaken by ENC along with other research on the North Canterbury economy.
