The Waimakariri District Council is one of the fastest growing districts in the country. Based in Rangiora, approx 30 minutes north of Christchurch, this vibrant Council is responsible for providing local government services to its community.

The Waimakariri District Council is seeking to appoint a Parks and Recreation Operations Team Leader on a full time basis to maintain and develop the District’s parks and recreational facilities. This position reports to the Community Green Space Manager.

The purpose of the position is to ensure that the day to day management of all parks, reserves, cemeteries and recreational and community facilities is consistent with the levels of service.

To meet the demands of this role the successful applicant will need a relevant tertiary qualification and proven experience in contract management. Candidates will also be able to demonstrate the following:
• A sound understanding of parks, recreation and community facilities asset management
• Experience in parks, reserves and recreation and community facility management preferably in a local government environment
• Team leadership skills to organise, coach and mentor team members to achieve targets
• Financial budget planning and management
• Experience in contract management.

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
